Winter Blogging

Hey! Merry Christmas to you! Wishing you guys a happy new year already...

As you know, Christmas has passed but that doesn't mean the holidays are over! I don't even know why but I felt like starting winter blogging just now. It's a bit late but you know, it's still winter. And so, to start off with I've changed my screen name! And it is now just oallyso with no underscores no periods no nothing. And I think I'm happy with it. You may remember or recall that my link for this website was itsallysa but not anymore! I've also changed my instagram name to just oallyso - I repeat no underscores anymore. And I think that is all and all other accounts that I have will probably still be the same as I only changed my screen names on here and instagram. I don't know why I just felt weird and I didn't enjoy it so don't ask questions. Now I feel much more comfortable! Woohoo!

Okay, so I want to just say again that Christmas has passed (and saying it hurts a little bit but it has oh well) and I wanted to post some blog posts with pictures in them. If you understood that. I wanted to just show you guys some outfits and photos and all those things. They'll be up some time around the new year - which I am really excited for because it's 2014! New year, new beginnings as they say. New year's resolutions! What's yours? I'd love to know.

Lastly, I know that I've somehow lost track (as I always do) of my roomspirations and I do not know where they have gone but here's a story: when my sister went to university she wanted to take photography classes along with her other studies stuff but she didn't have time for it so she sent it back. Wee! Now I can take some nice HD pictures and upload them straight to you and show you loads of things I wanted to show you guys this season! Finally, camera, you're back!
And so I think I shall end it here as it is still holiday season and it's time for family so I should get back to you all later. Merry Christmas!

December 2013: a week in already

Woah it's December! It's already been a week in! The first of December completely went past my head as it was seven days ago and I hadn't even properly noticed. Anyways, I am so excited because you know what's coming? It almost Christmas! The time to be happy and thankful and at the same time everyone is gathered together to do so! Not forgetting the smell of roast cooking in the oven... my mouth is literally watering as I type. I'm just sitting here imagining Christmas 18 days later.

So, what are you doing for Christmas?
I know what I'm doing, I'll be eating. Yes. Eating. I seriously feel like the whole of 2013, I haven't been eating. Not because I lost weight or anything but I feel as if 2013 went by really quick so there wasn't enough time to just sit down and eat. Of course I've been eating but WOW 2013 has been quick. The other day my friend asked for the date and I replied with 'December 2013' and he goes 'Wow I though it was 2012'. I literally had an epiphany. I was like 'Ohhhh my gosh, the Olympics was just in August... a year ago?!'

This just makes me feel that I really do think that I take a lot more things granted than I thought I do... if that made sense. I mean, I've already completed my coursework for science. And already studying for GCSEs. Ugh. I do think that I'm capable of keeping clean sheets and being calm. But recently I have been to KPMG and probably had a tiny glimpse of the future...

Almost Merry Christmas! Don't worry, those roomspriations are on their way ;)

A visit to KPMG

Hello everyone!

A bit of a late post for this, but I went to KPMG! It was on Wednesday last week, and I had so much fun! I never thought I would be excited to go to a company building such as, but I was!

If you're confused on why I went to the KPMG company building (if it's even called that) it's because my school is somehow a business school and it's sponsored by companies in London and one of its sponsors is KPMG. At the start of the second term this year I joined CCB, which is basically a group of students who learn furthermore about business and how it works. We had to get interviewed to get in and surprisingly I did. My interview was absolutely nerve-wracking as I can only remember one interview that I'd done before and funnily enough it was to get into the school.

Back to the topic, on the way to KPMG was so much fun and interesting because it was in Canary Wharf and near the Canada Square building which was SUCH an accomplishment to finally see as I've always seen it from our school view but never seem to have been to it. Now I have.
The visit consisted of an introduction to the company and how they work, a tour around the building, lunch, and business-related activities. Of course, my favourite part was lunch. No I'm joking, it was everything. I loved the way I walked past like 50 business people on their phones or doing something that distracts them from the world and they actually stopped to say hi or wave. I also love the way KPMG is right in the middle of a very busy, very business-y place so I got to feel that business atmosphere. It was awesome.

I feel really grateful that I get to do these things and do so for free. It really opens up the future for me and I am so overwhelmed by the opportunities to come!
See you,

Cameras and how they make everything better

Hello again!
Just a quick post saying how cameras make everything so much better. And when I say so, I literally mean magic. If I didn't have one, I think my blog would be really boring. So at the moment I don't have one... And it's really boring. Well I do have one, but it's a digital camera. And I think that the kind I have right now isn't so ideal, so sorry for all the viewers who are disappointed because there aren't so many photos!
I do hope that I get a camera somehow, like a real camera. And by real camera I mean an SLR or something. I mean BIG cameras. One where you can take really hd photos on it. One where you can shoot videos long enough to make a proper Youtube video. Just something I need and want. Sigh
To end on a good note, it's also Christmas Time! For the next few days or weeks I shall be redecorating my room! Making it all Christmassy because I love holidays, specially Christmas. So I shall be posting roomspiration posts very soon!
See you around,
Allysa

Today marks the day

Okay so today I feel that I should finally get things straight and sorted out. I think I should wise around things and just be bothered! Today will feature a lot more activity with you readers as I do think I can be a bit more active on my one and only blog and be a bit more ... appreciative. Since the person reading this (you) are on my blog at the moment and have somehow come across this point, I am grateful and really, I do feel grateful. This shall mark the day I become active!
Of course there's school to focus on but I won't let that affect my efforts on here, as I do really love blogging. I just need to find the time to do so, and make sure that time happens much more frequently.. if that makes sense. Me in my bedroom sitting at my desk on the computer at about 12 am just shows me how important this blog to me is and how much potential it has to me, however I do just need the time! I don't procrastinate. Okay that was a lie. I do procrastinate. Even typing it hurts. I absolutely hate procrastinating as it gets me thinking and thinking is absolutely dangerous. I just really want my blog to be a place where I can share just about whatever I want to on it, and enjoy it as much as possible. I really dislike leaving things out like my blog, I feel like I'm almost neglecting it. I feel like when I made this, I was so excited, then my excitedness just wore off and went somewhere. Now I feel that it's coming back and I'm definitely not letting it go anywhere else. It's mine, my own.
What I really mean is, I just hope that my blog is enjoyable enough for you all to read, or just wonder about on, as I do, again, appreciate it. I hope that this has somehow enlightened you and I do hope that you think my blog is perfectly fine, just like how I think about it.
Good night,
Allysa

Happy September!

It is officially September, woooo! This means sooo many things as a lot happens during this month, and of course it's my birthday!

One of the events happening is school starting :( Nobody likes school, at least I don't. But there are really good stuff like seeing your friends, joining sports teams and enjoying learning about your favourite subject again. There are lots of reasons I don't like coming to school - I live 20 minutes away (providing you chose to travel by bus); I wear a BRIGHT RED school uniform which is a little but of an embarrassment when going home as I live in an almost different county to my school, so I would only be the one in a red blazer. It would be so much cooler if we wear our own clothes to school everyday like American high schools, but I'm afraid that that happening is almost near to impossible.

The negatives out the way, after school starts, the next event is my birthday! I'm really excited but at the same time quiet scared and sad as both my older sisters are leaving for uni, so I'll be alone with my parents by the time I celebrate my birthday!

That's all for September this year think, and as school is starting I may not even see my blog as much so til next summer :)

Collection Cosmetics - Lipsticks

As a girl who's really interested by makeup (haha) I decided to do a mini review of something in the beauty world that I quite enjoy: Lipsticks. When it comes to shopping for makeup, I normally just look around counter to counter until I see something I like, then later decide if I'll buy it. Of course I have no intention on buying makeup because I need it, it's just something nice to put on and flaunt my face in the mirror.

Pretty Please (5) Mango Tango (14) Cherry Pop (8)
I decided to go shopping and buy makeup just for fun. I was in Superdrug (a pharmacy in the UK) and I was looking at the Collection counter and it was the first time I seen it, and I loved it straight away because the makeup is so cheap, but has amazing quality as well! I was specifically looking at the lipsticks as that was what caught my eye in their counter because they were only around £2.99 each! Have to say that the packaging is great too, but they seem to loose the cute foil decoration once to handle in too much though.

I first purchased Cherry Pop because the quality was brilliant. On my lips, they looked perfectly fine and was the right colour as shown on the label. The pigmentation was perfect and the result was a cherry red. I was so pleased and I bought straight away! I looked kind of odd at the till because I only had one thing to buy and I didn't use the self check out haha.

The next Collection lipstick I bought was Mango Tango. The colour is so bright and orangey and it works well for summer or a summery look. It has amazing pigmentation too like Cherry Pop, but the colour can be too bright on a tanned skin like mine, so I would advice putting a little bit on your lips, and use a non-shiny lip balm like Burt's Bees to blend and mix the lipstick, then finish with another healthy, shiny lip balm like Carmex or gloss on top. It works great!

The final but not the last Collection lipstick I bought was Pretty Please. I really like saying the name of makeup rather than numbers, don't you? Anyway, I thought of buying this because I realised that I didn't have a pinkey kind of lipstick and I wanted one. So of course I went to the Collection counter again and looked for one and I got one! Pretty Please is a shimmery kind of lipstick and has good pigmentation although it does tend to appear darker on tanned skin, so I would advice just putting Carmex on top or gloss.

Overall I really enjoy Collection cosmetics and do look forward to building maybe most of my makeup stash from their products.

Getting ahead of yourself

Serious blogpost #3

Have you ever been asked to do something e.g a project? And did it turn out good?
How about when you got asked. Did you say 'okay.' or something like 'sure! I'll make sure we have boats and ducks and by the end of the script I'll sing a song'?

If you're like me and you like to plan ahead, like going to a trip abroad and packing an extra three pairs of underwear, then that's great. Is it considered normal? Maybe, but then you'd be called efficient or a good scout. And that's okay! Packing extra underwear isn't getting ahead of yourself; it's just thinking or planning ahead, not getting ahead. And getting ahead is very different.

Getting ahead of yourself means to over-think or over-plan or to over-say about something, and normally it's not good. It has bad connotations, but sometimes it actually works out for some people. I have loads of experiences about me getting ahead of myself. Once, I had to come up with a project for a science investigation and I chose to do something about volcanoes straight away; not because I knew everything about it, but I was just simply interested. I came up with loads of theories, and I even ended up making a model of a volcano out of flour, vinegar and all things you can't possibly imagine using to make a volcano model. I also made lots of mini posters made from paper that I thought I could hand out to people and stuff.. I wanted to do and make more things as well, but I didn't have the time and they were too imaginative and almost not possible to be made by myself alone.  I did these things all at once which tired me out so much that I just wanted to quit. Then when the time came to present, I planned way too much ahead that I didn't even know the first word I would say in front of everyone. So I ended up having to skip my presentation and getting a low mark. I really didn't have a good time after I got that bad mark as I didn't know where I went wrong and why I skipped my presentation.

Then I found out why: it was because I got ahead of myself. I got ahead of myself so much that it tired me out. I don't even think that it's the worse kind of getting ahead of yourself, there might even be much more worse cases.
I'm not saying this is scientifically proven or anything but this might happen to you if you are an imaginative, efficient, independent-thinking person as you have the power of your brain to think ahead about something that you haven't done, but are going to, and therefore you have ingenious, vivid thoughts about the planned things ahead.
In the simplest way that I could describe getting ahead of yourself is simply like planning things, but instead of taking the time to plan, you proceed to do the ideas that come to your head and do them anyway, causing you to be ahead of a certain stage that you should still only be at. It's probably like someone riding bike with no protection gear whatsoever, and the person riding the bike has never had lessons and it's their first time on one. This then causes them to fall and hurt themselves.

As I said before, getting ahead of yourself does have bad connotations, but you can help it by just going with the flow of things, and keeping thoughts that you know are near impossible (although nothing is impossible) in your head; most importantly if you think you have a great idea that you think you should absolutely do or make or whatever it is, write it down first before you actually practically do it.

What I think about when I blog

Serious blogpost #2

It just comes to mind that sometimes, I think deeply about unimportant things like what kind of hairstyle do I want tomorrow, or how much sleep I'll get - this comes from me writing blogposts on my bed most of the time. And that just goes to show that I am little bit of a slacker when it comes to writing, as I have tons of ideas in my head, but never really at the write time as my laptop isn't there so I could post it here. Turns out that most of my ideas just float about until I lose them (and usually, they're great ones!)

Starting a blog, I thought it would be super easy as I like to talk about random but important things that matter (most of the time) and I definitely to like to share it with others. I thought 'yeah blogger seems easy to write things on) but when I have a great idea, and I see the 'newpost' button, it all seems lost in my brain and I end up writing about a completely different topic, but it's okay because I end up writing something anyway.
I'm usually thinking about posting pictures on my next blogpost, or an actual blogpost, or a review. Then I just sit there (or in some cases lay there) and think 'heck I'm gonna write about not knowing what to write' and viola.
Some of my posts aren't completely pointless, but I really do wish that on blogger's next update, they do a 'sorted posts' kind of page, so that on your blog (a personal one) you can just easily go to a page where there are only picture diary posts, serious blog posts, review posts etc etc.

One thing that always happens is I just stare at my blog and think. Looking for some inspiration maybe? Who knows. It's a mission to make a successful blog that everyone knows and reads (by everyone I mean even aliens.) And trying to accomplish tons of goals all at once is kind of the same: a bit of pressure but you'll get there sometime. It's all about not giving up, and to know that patience is key. Knowing things that get you somewhere closer to where you want to be is probably wisdom.

Am I a tidy person?

Serious blogpost #1

If you consider the title personal, why not ask yourself in your head right now 'am I a tidy person?'

I think I am... In a way. I do organize why room all the time if it's messy; if there's a cup on my dresser, I would stare at it as if it's crime that it's there. It sounds crazy, but it does happen!
I keep all my things organized, like on my desk, the top part goes the pencils and on the right side goes any papers that I have to do from school or anything like that. But is that OCD though?
I know a lot of people that over-exaggerate the term ocd, something they'd say is 'I like things organized, or else it affects my ocd.' But isn't that just you being yourself, which is an organised person? To me, ocd is something really serious, like if a droplet of water falls on your shoulder, you immediately take a shower.

As an example, I was looking through blogs the other day and I was absentmindedly judging the colours used, design, layout etc etc. Then I thought about my own website, and how others could be doing the same thing. I have made A LOT of changes to my blog templates, colours, designs etc, but my recent one now seems really.. white? I guess it's the style now for websites, but of course I have a lot of inspirations coming from everywhere so it's probably just me. I do read a lot of blogs, and they all do have one thing that's the same and it's the design. Design (in my opinion) is so important. It's where everyone gets the impression of you. And my favourite blogs that I read all commonly have the same colour harmonies on their templates and it's all white/ cream colours with the 'vintage' look to it, and at the same time it's simple, chic, and a tad bit minimalist. OF course it's the content that I'm also after, but it's also the design that wonders me. And not just me but everyone else too.

At the end of the day, we can't really change ourselves? We can't just go 'okay tomorrow I'm going to be neater and have ocd.' We obviously come back to reality, and think that what we were thinking was insane and that we were inspired too much. So if you are a tidy person, don't judge yourself (which is really wrong) but do believe in yourself - and if you are a messy person, then be messy. Remember just not to judge people either way.

Outline manicure

Turns out that Sharpie pens are reeeally useful! Inspired by vintage nails, done by me! For this nail look I used Ciate's Caviar set in Cookies and Cream, and a good quality Sharpie pen from Asda :) Might be cheap, but it's a good alternative to expensive nail art pens! I'll definitely be buying a lot more coloured Sharpies too!

6 must haves for a cute room

A few delicious smelling perfumes definitely make your room smell amazing; and placing them on cute vanities adds a nice 'girls room' effect
Cute wall decors: if your room is either big or small, they will definitely make your room look pretty and unique

Inspirational enough? Along with wall decors, quotes and sayings can make your room a place that you'll enjoy to actually be in - waking up to a saying that you love can change your day

(Sorry for the bad quality) But, pictures of little indie owls on pretty frames sure make your wall decor more original-looking

Lights - you can never have too many sweet lights around your room! (or bed) This one happens to be on me and my sister's bunk
Finally, to make your room YOURS, you need a cute desk space to do work on! Haha

Chocolats de Beussent - Lachelle

Such lovely views on the other side of the road; Beussent's countryside is so beautiful!
Houses like these would be amazing to live in, planning on moving to France soon. Haha
The chocolate factory! A lot of delicious (and delicate) pieces of treats to buy or just look at!

Welcoming from the beginning!

Hello! (first blog post)

Since this is my first post and blog, I'm feeling quite happy! As a girl living in London, England and the youngest of three sisters, I thought that it was finally time to make a blog... On free times, as I do still go to school, I shall post about what happens when you're the youngest hah!

Here's some snaps:
